You can use Unity ERP software to support a wide range of manufacturing styles, with any combination of Engineer-to-Order, Make-to-Order and Make-to-Stock:
(For Process manufacturing see our UnityF8 food software)
Production plans are created from within demand management, and Unity’s manufacturing planning system determines the master production schedule. Unity can identify any problems with the production plan prior to the start, while Capacity Requirements Planning reviews the production plan line-by-line; aligning demand with available resource. Materials Requirement Planning calculates the materials required to feed the capacity plan.
Unity manages the material issued to Work-in-Progress (WIP) jobs. Lot-controlled and standard stock can be issued, and material can also be returned and finished goods can be booked in to stock. Kitting shortages are visible to ensure effective decisions are made.
Unity manages Work-in-Progress and Job Costing, including key job information such as labour and material bookings, and sub-contract transactions. Once production orders have been raised (via MRP, MPS or SOP), Unity tracks progress against the production plan. You can identify WIP jobs at all stages, and undertake online WIP valuation and job cost enquiries with variance analysis.
Unity provides a sophisticated engineering change control management system; which can incorporate the dates on which changes from one product version to another are made. The system can manage multiple product versions in production simultaneously, while maintaining consistent quality and traceability controls. Stock can be controlled either by date or quantity run out with MRP adjusting future demands accordingly.
Unity manages the despatch of goods to a third-party in order for a sub-contract process to be carried out, when a relevant Purchase Order is raised. There are three methods of despatching stock for sub-contract:
Despatch of stock from a WIP job: The sub-contract part is included as a material on the stock part's planning record. Upon completion of the sub-contract process, the part is returned to the WIP job.
Despatched directly from stock: e.g. when old stock may require cleaning or repackaging. Stock can be despatched from a store, or lot-controlled parts picked from multiple lots.
The return of stock to the sub-contract supplier: for example if the work is sub-standard.
