New Product Development (NPD):
"Product innovation is a key process for any company in the food sector. Yet the means to handle this smoothly and effectively is not always there.
Since we implemented the NPD (New Product Development) module from Sanderson last year, our whole NPD process has become quicker and more streamlined.
The information is now accessible by all authorised personnel with access to the system, whereas before it was difficult to get the information we needed in a timely fashion. This applies particularly to the ‘signing off’ process of a product brief - the brief now gets signed off electronically in hours rather than playing ‘pass the parcel’ with a manual brief which could take several weeks.
In addition, recipes can be easily copied from the live database and amended to create a new product, along with costings. This means we don’t manually re-enter data (with concomitant errors) and we know the feasibility of a project from a cost point of view from day one, helping to drive projects forward.
We have users who work remotely and from home who can now be far more productive as they can enter new briefs or update existing information more readily. In addition, management can now obtain a ‘real-time’ picture of where we are for any or all projects instantaneously.
We particularly like the freedom offered by the facility to define certain ‘free format’ fields for our own usage which means that we can operate in the way we like rather than have our processes defined by the software.
With the ability to integrate this to email alerts, we now have a more reliable and accountable process in place to handle our product innovation process."
