Sanderson is a well-established, profitable software and IT services business renowned for its innovative, constantly developing software and excellent support services. The Group is run by an experienced team of directors and senior management.
Following graduation from Nottingham University (BA Honours in History), Christopher worked for British Olivetti until 1974 when he joined the ACT Group, the second UK IT company to be listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1979. He served on the Group Plc Board between 1983 and 1994, undertaking a number of senior roles. In 1995, he joined the former Sanderson Group, becoming Group Chief Executive later that year. In 1999, Christopher led a ‘take private’ of the former Sanderson Group with the support and backing of the Alchemy Plan. Following restructuring and the demerger of the original Group, the business focused primarily on UK commercial markets, which retained the Sanderson name, gained admission to the London Stock Exchange AIM market in 2004.
Ian was appointed to the Sanderson Group plc Board in 2013 and has over 30 years’ experience in software and IT services. He began his career in electronics before moving on to the computer industry in 1979 when he joined ACT Group plc. As a local board member, he helped establish an international IT business. In 1996, Ian joined Mitsubishi Electric as International Project Director. In 1999, he was appointed Consulting Director of Talgentra Ltd, where he developed a new consulting services business which rapidly expanded overseas. In 2005, Ian became Managing Director of the multi-channel retail division of Sanderson. Having made a major contribution to the Group’s strategy and driven the development of the multi-channel business, Ian was appointed Group Chief Executive in June 2015.
Richard joined the Sanderson Group plc Board in October 2017 bringing significant commercial and finance experience predominantly from software and IT services businesses. After graduating from the University of Plymouth, Richard worked for RM plc where he trained to become a Chartered Management Accountant and undertook various financial management roles across the business. In 2003, Richard joined Capita plc and in 2005 was appointed as Finance Director of Service Birmingham. He moved to Capita’s IT services business as Finance Director in 2008 and undertook a number of acquisitions leading to promotion to Divisional Finance Director of Capita’s IT Services Consulting Division. In 2012, Richard left to become Commercial Finance Director at Pattonair before re-joining Capita in 2015, where most recently he was Chief Operations Officer for Education Software Services.
John has extensive City experience as an investment analyst. He was Managing Director of Albert E Sharp Securities stockbrokers from 1993 until the acquisition of Albert E Sharp by Old Mutual in 1998, and he was instrumental in setting up Arden Partners in 2002 where he was a Director until November 2004.
David has considerable business experience including with Financial Objects plc, Cyan Technology plc and Sanderson Group plc as a non-executive director between IPO in 2004 up until 2012. David was Chairman of Tinglobal Group plc until May 2014, when he led a successful trade sale to Singapore Listed, Declout plc.
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Computing and Mathematics, Dave joined software house Fraser Williams as a Graduate Trainee. He was a founding member of the Group’s Logistics software business, which grew to employ 300 people, providing systems to customers across the world. He was appointed COO and joined the Main Board in 2002. Dave was responsible for building the company’s Warehousing and Distribution business, with customers including leading logistics companies, which are still customers to this day.
When Anisa acquired the business in 2006, Dave joined Anisa as CEO of OBS Logistics, merging the acquired business with Anisa’s existing logistics business. Later he also took responsibility for its ERP business. During Dave’s time with Anisa, its Managed Services capability has developed to be a successful cornerstone of the business.
David joined Sanderson when Anisa was acquired in November 2017.
Chris joined One iota, the Sanderson Group’s cloud-based retail technology specialist, in October 2016 as Managing Director. He has a wealth of experience in the technology and retail industries having previously worked for companies such as Experian, Torex Retail and WH Smith. A graduate with a BSc in Business & Management, Chris has a proven track record in growing businesses and inspiring teams. His focus at Sanderson is on accelerating One iota’s growth.
Damian is a proven management and board level executive with a history of delivering award winning business solutions within the technology sector. After successful roles with GE Capital ITS and National Computing Centre, Damian decided to join early stage mobile technology venture 2ergo in 2002 and was an integral part of the exec team that listed the business on AIM in 2004.
David studied Information System Engineering at UMIST (now the University of Manchester). David co-founded Wapfly, a mobile software business in 2004, at the age of 21. Initially headquartered in Manchester, Wapfly provided mobile media services to high profile companies such as EMAP, Bauer Media and Condé Nast. David later set up a Sydney office in 2008 to expand the Wapfly reach globally. The Australian business quickly developed into an industry leader working with companies such as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, WPP, Sony, Vodafone and Mastercard. In 2009 Wapfly was acquired by 2ergo Group PLC.
Roger qualified in electrical engineering with Newman Industries, an electric motor manufacturer, and then joined its IT department as an Analyst Programmer. In addition to servicing the group, the IT department became a computer bureau and IT solutions provider, working with a wide range of businesses before being acquired by Sanderson in 1987. Roger has been instrumental in the design and development of the Sanderson food & drink solution. He has over 25 years’ experience in supplying IT business solutions to the food & drink marketplace, with initial installations at Lucas Ingredients (now Kerry Ingredients) and Elizabeth Shaw. Whilst at Sanderson, Roger has held the positions of Technical Director and Director & General Manager. In 2007, he was promoted to Managing Director of the Sanderson Food & Drink business.
A graduate of Nottingham University, Anthony worked in the retail and healthcare industries before joining Sanderson in 2002. He has held a number of senior roles within the Manufacturing Division, more recently heading up the operations team where he was responsible for all elements of delivery, support and development. In August 2017, Anthony was promoted to General Manager of the Group's Food and Drink software business. His remit is to spearhead the Group's continued expansion in the food and drink ERP space.
Nick joined Sanderson in early 2015. Prior to this, he headed up the commercial practice of Experian Decision Analytics Global Software Product Management team where he was responsible for product profitability, product innovation and global pricing for the $500 million business. Before Experian, Nick held commercial and technical roles at food manufacturer Kerry Group plc, where he led the development of a real-time factory and warehouse management system and subsequently at a leading logistics business where he designed and implemented the financial management and reporting solution.
Paul has experience of the manufacturing sector both from the client as well as the supplier side. A graduate in mechanical engineering with an MSc in Metals Technology and Management, he started his career as a Graduate Trainee working for an engineering business. After 8 years there, he joined Sanderson and has enjoyed a wide and varied career working with our manufacturing customers. Paul has been involved in many aspects of product development and has also played a considerable part in the delivery of systems where his operational role has given him valuable customer-facing experience.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant with a degree in pure mathematics. He was previously Group Finance Director of the largest independent group of bus companies in the UK which was subsequently acquired by Stagecoach. He then became Group Finance Director of an AIM listed, medical devices manufacturing and distribution business. In both these roles, Mark held overall responsibility for IT strategy and infrastructure. Mark originally joined Sanderson as Finance Director of the multi-channel and manufacturing divisions before moving to his current role.
An LLB (Hons) graduate in Law, Kate started her working life at the BBC before spending seven years at Mitsubishi Electric and in 1999 joined Sanderson as Marketing Manager for the Commercial Systems business (now Civica). In 2003, Kate took up her current role within the Group, and has assisted in the adoption of a more market-focused approach and, more recently, in ensuring the effectiveness of the increased investment in sales and marketing.
Nikki studied mathematics and economics at university before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, whilst working for Ernst & Young, where she spent five years as an auditor for a large number of public companies. She then moved into industry and worked at Experian for four years in numerous roles including UK Financial Planning Accountant, Cost Manager and business partnering with their technology division. Nikki joined Sanderson in June 2015.
