Find out how Sanderson helped this iconic confectionery manufacturer move into global markets.
UnityF8 Case Study - Tunnock’s
Tunnock’s products – including caramel wafers, snowballs and teacakes – have become iconic. The company now sells to 30 countries across the world, reaching as far as Canada, Japan and Kuwait.
The business brief:
Tunnock’s needed a software platform to manage their supply chain and manufacturing processes. The platform also needed to help underpin their growth plans and assist with international regulatory demands governing the food industry. They chose UnityF8, the food manufacturing ERP software from Sanderson.
Using UnityF8 and EDI, Tunnock’s customers log directly into the system and place their own orders.
UnityF8 also allows Tunnock’s to schedule and prioritise orders to prevent conflicting customer requirements slowing internal manufacturing processes. Transport scheduling and loading can also be prioritised in the same way.
Tunnock’s also use the Business Intelligence tools built into UnityF8 to perform in depth analysis of their ERP data. “It will enable us to service customers more efficiently, and give us valuable data about our processes. We’ll be able to analyse order patterns, delivery routes, schedules and forecasts to make our operation as sleek and effective as possible,” said Bruce Reidford, Company Secretary.
Traceability and regulatory compliance remain a large concern for food manufacturers as Reidford explains:
“The administrative burden for any food manufacturer is huge these days - without UnityF8, we’d need an army of clerks carrying out this work. It’s not only the traceability; UnityF8’s Business Intelligence will produce up-to-the-minute reports and analysis. As the regulatory demands become greater, UnityF8 means we can cope with all of that very easily.”
"UnityF8 is a very effective, reliable and dependable product. I was confident that Sanderson was the best fit for our business."
“The Sanderson people were a key part of that decision. We wanted true commitment from an IT supplier to work with us to solve our business problems as our staff are not IT experts. That was as important as the software itself.
“We’ve grown up with Sanderson and we’ve been delighted to have them as our business partner.”
