Leading Irish parcel delivery company goes live with Proteus WMS

DPD Ireland, the parcel delivery company for the whole of Ireland and Northern Ireland, has gone live with Proteus WMS. The company wanted a warehousing system to control all of their warehouse storage, picking, packing, labelling and despatching processes on behalf of a major Telecoms customer at their central sorting hub in Athlone, Ireland.

Proteus WMS processes orders which are received electronically through interfaces with the DPD system. The orders are then picked, packed, labelled and despatched. Stock levels are updated and maintained through the system. Reports are automatically sent to their client who can view their stock levels, sales figures and warehouse performance statistics.

The WMS also controls the goods returns process from the Telecoms customers, which mainly contain home/office telephones, modems and answering machines.

Gavin Warwick, General Manager of DPD Ireland expresses how pleased he is with the system. “We are very happy with the way the Proteus WMS has controlled all of the warehouse processes for this major client. We are expanding the use of the Proteus WMS by rolling it out to control stock for all of our other clients.”

DPD Ireland leads the field in next day parcel delivery throughout Ireland, with 38 regionally-based depots and a 66,000 ft central sorting Hub in Athlone, Co Westmeath. The depots are staffed by local people who provide a friendly and efficient service. DPD Ireland offers a range of quality services including courier and shipping services to Great Britain, Europe and internationally, through their DPD Classic and DPD Express services.
