Leading shoe distributor choses Proteus WMS to run their expanding distribution operation

The Gloucestershire-based Gardiner Bros & Co (Leathers) Limited, one of the leading shoe distributors in the UK, was established in 1860 and annually supplies in excess of 1.5 million items globally. Their range of products has steadily grown over the years and now incorporates not only Ladies, Men’s and Kids Footwear but also Outdoor, Workwear, Safety Footwear, Bags and other Sundries. Their brands include Sketchers, Flexx, Riva, Cat, Hunter, Dr Martens, Puma, Cotswold and GBS.

Having already decided to add an additional distribution centre to complement their existing facility, the management team also took the strategic decision to install a new WMS to run both warehouse operations.

Logistics & IT Director, Mark Holloway issued an ITT with LPC Consultants who assisted them in their selection process. After a thorough look at the WMS suppliers market a decision was made to utilise Proteus WMS, a contributing factor was the understanding of Gardiner's needs demonstrated by the Proteus team, and their track record of establishing long-term relationships with their clients.

The new RF Directed WMS, controls both warehouses, and will be interfaced in to the in-house ERP system. This will give a seamless system from point of order through the warehouse and back to the issuing of the invoices.
