Sanderson, the publicly owned provider of manufacturing software, has won a contract to supply its Unity solution to Magnadata, a leading security print products manufacturer, following its acquisition of long-standing Sanderson customer Norprint. Based in Boston, Lincolnshire, Magnadata is a leading manufacturer of security print products, including smartcards, RFID labels, baggage tags and magnetic tickets, primarily for the mass transit industry. Magnadata had previously been part of the same group as nearby Norprint, one of Europe’s largest labelling and labelling systems companies, and in 2006 acquired the company and moved to a single site. Norprint had used Sanderson software for many years and experienced the benefits of using an integrated system to support business growth and increase operational efficiency, responsiveness and profitability. Magnadata wanted to capitalise on its synergies with Norprint but recognised the nature of the two businesses was very different – Magnadata has around 1000 customers with a high average order value, whereas Norprint has around 3,500 with a much lower average order value. The complexity of the businesses’ product base was a key factor in Magnadata’s decision to choose Sanderson; reflecting its extensive experience in the print industry. Sanderson worked closely with senior management to identify valuable return on investment opportunities that would support the cost of implementing the latest solution across both businesses. By replacing their existing system and consolidating software to a single Sanderson solution, Magnadata will significantly reduce the duplicate licensing, support and training costs incurred through using multiple systems. Using a common platform will help leverage the synergies between the businesses as well help unite the two company cultures through consistent processes and by allowing staff to work across both operations. Tim Gray, Finance Director at Magnadata commented:“Magnadata is a diverse and ambitious business which needed a solution capable of supporting our long-term business strategies. Sanderson demonstrated that both its solution and partnership had the scope and flexibility to support our business into the future. It was also important that the commercial structure of the contract met our investment management objectives and Sanderson tailored a solution to meet these requirements.” Steve Shakespeare, Managing Director for manufacturing systems at Sanderson said:“We are delighted Magnadata has chosen Sanderson, which is a positive reflection of both our experience and the capabilities of our solution. Consolidating business systems and processes to an integrated solution, particularly following an acquisition, enables substantial cost savings to be made and will allow management to take the business forward with improved visibility and control.” About Magnadata LtdMagnadata is a ‘Global’ leading manufacturer of security print products, primarily for the mass transit industry and has been trading since the mid 1980’s.
