Sanderson, the publicly-owned UK provider of software for the food and drink industry, has won a contract to supply its solution to leading haggis manufacturer Macsween of Edinburgh. The Macsween family has been making its authentic and award-winning haggis in Edinburgh for over 50 years. Macsween also makes tasty black pudding and is proud to have created the classic vegetarian haggis, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009. Macsween is the leading haggis brand in the UK, with strong sales both north and south of the border. In fact, Macsween sells more haggis in England than in Scotland, with London being the top haggis-eating city! While famously seen as the culinary centrepiece of Burns Night, haggis is now popular as a nutritious and easy-to-use ingredient throughout the year, enlivening canapés, pakoras, lasagne, pies and many other recipes. Macsween aims for growth using Sanderson systemAmbitious plans to extend the family-run business in the coming years sparked a review of current business processes. Following a comprehensive evaluation, Macsween and their IT consultant concluded that Sanderson had the best fully-integrated food specialist solution to meet their current requirements, whilst supporting planned future growth. Sanderson will replace the existing Sage and MS/Access systems, saving on double-keying and data duplication in the process. The automation of business processes in the factory and the warehouse will also help Macsween to address their particularly busy peak periods during the 3 months from November to February. Stock visibility will be dramatically improved and Macsween will also benefit from a dedicated food support team from Sanderson, both during the implementation process and beyond. Crucially, the Sanderson project support team are experienced in the industry, with extensive knowledge of food manufacturing processes.
